Shumukh by The Spirit of Dubai
Holding the title of being the most expensive perfume in the world as of 2024, Skumukh is a luxury fragrance created by The Spirit of Dubai. Asghar Adam Ali created Shumukh to reflect the essence of Dubai. Even the name of the fragrance translates to “deserving the highest.” Launched in 2019, it’s priced at $1.29 million for a 3-liter bottle.
Shumukh is so expensive for three main reasons: ingredients, packaging, and exclusivity. Skumukh is composed of the finest and rarest perfume ingredients in the world, like Turkish rose and Indian agarwood. The packaging consists of 3,571 diamonds, pearls, and giant gold and silver detailing. The design of the bottle depicts the rich heritage of Dubai. Lastly, there’s only one bottle in the whole wide world, making it extremely exclusive.
The top note consists of Turkish rose, Indian agarwood, patchouli, and ylang-ylang. The heart note consists of musk, sandalwood, amber, and frankincense. Lastly, the base note consists of agarwood, musk, amber, and other oriental species.
Along with the price tag being unattainable for most, the rich combination made people find the scent to be overwhelming or too intense. The fragrance itself is niche, too, resulting in some people finding the fragrance not palatable.
