Christine Nagel
Christine Nagel is a Swiss perfumer who was born to a Swiss father and Italian mother. She originally studied medicine, aiming to become a midwife. The discovery of her passion for chemistry led her to become a perfumer. Narciso Rodriguez For Her established her credibility as a perfumer.
She’s known for creating fragrances that evoke emotions. The usage of unconventional ingredients and reinterpreting classic notes is also another aspect of her style. For example, in the Hermès Twilly collection, she used ginger, usually used for masculinity, to highlight femininity. Her deep appreciation of the emotional power of scent influences her fragrances. She spoke of the ability of fragrances to evoke deep memories.
Un Jardin à Cythère is one of her recent major successes. This fragrance is known for the absence of floral notes as it rather highlights woody and grassy notes. She continues Hermès' fragrance creation today as the in-house perfumer since 2016 as the first woman to hold this position.
