Christopher Sheldrake

Christopher Sheldrake, a British perfumer, is known for his collaborations with Serge Lutens. He discovered his passion for fragrance while traveling around the world. After moving to Paris in the early 1980s, he worked for Quest and Shiseido before joining Serge Lutens. In Serge Lutens, he created his iconic fragrance: Féminité du Bois. It’s an iconic fragrance that accentuates a cedarwood note that goes against conventions like floral and fruity compositions in women’s perfumes.

He’s known for using original techniques with high-quality ingredients to create his fragrances. He often incorporates ingredients like amber, musk, and various resins, creating a mysterious characteristic. Beyond perfumery, he has a passion for cooking. He often draws parallels between blending species and ingredients in cooking and combining notes in perfumery.

In 2012, Christopher Sheldrake became the in-house perfumer in Chanel. He created iconic fragrances like Coco Noir under Chanel. He continues to work with Chanel, remaining influential in the industry.
