Francis Kurkdjian

Francis Kurkdjian is a French perfumer who specializes in men’s fragrances. When he was thirteen years old, he became interested in perfumes by reading an article about the perfume industry. Thirteen years later, at age twenty-six, he created one of the world’s best-selling perfumes: Le Male for Jean Paul Gaultier.

He draws inspiration from various sources like art, fashion, and emotions when creating fragrances. Additionally, he emphasizes the importance of a name, as it sets a framework that helps share the fragrance. His creations are easily recognizable due to this strong olfactory signature with a rich sillage. Beyond perfumery, he once dreamed of becoming a professional dancer. As a result, his love for dance and music still remains inside him, often influencing his creative process.

In 2009, Kurkdjian founded his brand, Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Baccarat Rouge 540 is a popular perfume for its luxurious and complex position.

In addition, in October 2021, Kurkdjian became the new creative director of perfume for Christian Dior. Under Dior, he released “New Look,” which combines frankincense, amber, and aldehydes, and “Miss Dior Parfum,” which focuses on the fruity and floral character of a classic scent.
