Jean-Claude Ellena

Jean-Claude Ellena was born in Grasse, France. His interest in perfume wasn’t a surprise as he was born in a family of perfumers. He was one of the first students at the Perfumery School of Givaudan. Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert for Bulgari is one of his most successful perfumes.

He’s known for his minimalist style, using a limited amount of high-quality ingredients to create a transparent, airy, and elegant fragrance. Aside from perfumery, he’s passionate about writing. He wrote several books about perfumery, including The Diary of a Nose: A Year in the Life of a Parfumer.

One of his most recent successes was Terre d’Hermès, which has an earthy, woody, and citrus scent. It’s still one of Hermès' most popular perfumes.

After his retirement from Hermès, he still remains active in the industry by creating perfumes and sharing his experiences with the next generation.
