Luca Maffei

Luca Maffei is an Italian perfumer praised for his work as a niche perfumer. His interest in perfumery began from an early age because of his father, Marco Maffei. Marco worked with influential people in the industry, giving Luca early exposure to the field. Luca trained under Françoise Marin, a perfumer and formal principle of the Givaudan-Roure perfumery school. Cuoio Nobile for Pineider was a breakout success for Luca. Then, the creation of Black Pepper & Sandalwood for Acca Kappa won him the 2016 Art and Olfaction Award in Los Angeles.

Maffei’s fragrances are well-harmonized despite the mixture of a wide range of natural and synthetic ingredients. This mixture gives his scent a complex and intricate characteristic, making it unique. Many of his inspirations come from personal memories like his mother’s perfume, Coco by Chanel.
