Henri Robert

Henri Robert’s interest in fragrances began in his youth as he was born in Grasse, France. He held the position as the head perfumer for Chanel from 1954 until 1978. He’s best known for the creation of Chanel No.19, known for its green floral composition.

He was able to create fragrances that balance simplicity and sophistication, making timeless scents. He often incorporated floral, green, and chypre notes. The Chanel Pour Monsiuer, which was his first breakout success, is popular for its citrus-chypre scent. Aside from perfumery, he had a passion for botany. His botanical knowledge helped stabilize his position as one of the best perfumers at the time.

Although he passed away in 1987, his legacy continues until today with the fragrances he created. Chanel No. 19 still remains as one of the most loved fragrances until today, showing his impact.
