White Diamonds
Launched in 1991, White Diamonds was created by Carlos Benaim. It was introduced under Elizabeth Taylor’s brand, connecting celebrity and fragrance in the beauty industry. Elizabeth Taylor was the first major celebrity to launch her own fragrance line.
The success of White Diamonds marked a turning point in the perfume industry, showing the power of celebrity-driven fragrances. Elizabeth’s involvement in the fragrance’s creation, branding, and promotion helped the fragrance to gain popularity. It also helped to connect the scent to her glamorous image.
The fragrance was marketed as a high-end product, inspired by Elizabeth’s passion for diamonds and luxury. The bottle’s design that features a gold band and crystal-like cap adds to its luxurious appeal.
The top notes consist of aldehydes, bergamot, lily, orange and neroli, giving a sparkling scent that reflects “diamonds.” The heart notes consist of jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang, carnation, and narcissus, featuring a rich floral bouquet. The base notes consist of amber, patchouli, sandalwood, oakmoss, and musk, giving the fragrance a powdery finish.
White Diamonds continues to be one of the best-selling fragrances. Its sales exceeded $1.5 billion since its launch, and it continues to rise today.
