Aimé Guerlain

Aimé Guerlian is an iconic figure in perfumery, particularly known for accomplishments at the House of Guerlian. When Pierre-François Pascal Guerlian, his father and the founder of the House of Guerlian, retired, Aimé took over the creative side of the business.

Aimé Guerlian’s incontrovertible success was the creation of Jicky, a fragrance considered the first modern perfume and celebrated for its blend of synthetic and natural components. Jicky not only secured his position but also set the standard for future perfumists.

Aimé Guerlian is known for using synthetic ingredients to enhance natural ingredients. This technique created complex and more enduring fragrances. Beyond fragrances, he was a passionate equestrian. His love for horses sometimes inspired new fragrances.

Although he passed away in 1910, his influence continues through the House of Guerlian. House of Guerlian still stands as one of the most prestigious perfume houses in the world. Currently, Aimé Guerlian’s nephew, Jacques Guerlian, continues the perfumery legacy in the family.
