Mathilde Laurent
Mathilde Laurent, a French perfumer, began her career after asking Jean-Paul Guerlain for an internship during a school event. This incident offered her a permanent position after a three-month internship. She worked at Guerlain for over a decade before moving to Cartier. Baiser Volé brought a breakout success through its uniqueness of focusing on lilies that challenged floral perfumes.
She’s known for creating fragrances focused on minimalism. Consequently, she uses relatively few ingredients. Additionally, her knowledge in science allowed her to create innovative fragrances. For example, her synetic molecules in L’Heure perdue shows her innovative approach. As a result, she creates fragrances that challenge traditional boundaries.
The Cartier La Panthère series that began in 2014 is one of her more recent successes. The Les Heures de parfum collection was recognized at the 2010 FIFI awards. Particularly, La Treizième Heure won both the perfume Creator’s Prize and the Specialist’s Prize.
Currently, she continues to work at Cartier. Additionally, she’s one of the sixteen perfumery experts who oversees the Grand Musée du Parfum in Paris.
